Fix ‘Photos’ App Problem

Problems with Windows 10 Photos App?

Customers first started reporting problems with the Windows 10 Photos app after installing the Windows 10, S0H2, update: KB5001330. Following the update they could no longer see any of their albums on OneDrive and couldn’t view or add photos in the app. Other customers reported similar glitches, including; being unable to view full albums and also accessing photos on external drives. In these cases Restoring the Libraries to Default cured the glitch. But there have been other issues that we have up to now been unable to resolve.

We are still seeing problems cropping up and more often than not these problems are remedied with Windows updates, so before you attempt any of our fixes, check if there are any new updates available.

Press Win + I to enter Windows Settings, go to Updates and Security, then click on Check for Updates.


Usually by the time the problem reaches us the customer, a friend, family member or some wise old google tech guru has had a play around with it, so any fix that Microsoft may have come up with might not work.

If you suspect that the configurations have been modified and the app still isn’t working you can always take a look at these suggestions.


Restore the libraries to default

The Windows 10 Photo app is connected with libraries in your File Explorer, so if there’s a problem in libraries, the app won’t show any photos or videos. To solve this problem you will have to restore the libraries to default. Hopefully, this will fix things and you will see your pics and vids again.

  1. Open the File Explorer
  2. Click on View tab
  3. Click on the Navigation pane and select Show Libraries
  4. In the left pane right-click on Libraries then click on Restore default libraries

Restoring the Microsoft Photo App

Press Win + I click on Apps and scroll down to Microsoft Photo and select Advanced Options then hit the Reset button and wait for the process to finish.


If that doesn’t work you will have to re-install the app

Unfortunately this isn’t as easy as it sounds because it can’t be done in the normal way as it is a universal app. However, it is possible to do it via the command console.
Open the Power Shell as administrator and type in the following command:

get-appxpackage *Microsoft.Windows.Photos* | remove-appxpackage

Once the app has been uninstalled, reboot your PC then re-install the app from the Microsoft store.


There’s not a lot that we can do about some of the current Photo app problems because we believe that they may be system-related, and if that’s the case Microsoft will eventually come up with a solution.

Windows 10 Mail App not working….

We have had a few people complaining about emails not syncing, Mail app not opening and problems adding new email accounts.

Windows 10 mail app has some known problems and simply resetting the app can often resolve these issues.

Most problems can be repaired by using the following the steps.

1. How to reset the Mail app Settings

Click Start button
Select Settings
Click Apps
Click Apps & Features
Select the Mail and Calendar app from the list
Click on Advanced options

Click Reset button

The Mail app should work fine, if not try one of the solutions below…


2. How to uninstall the Mail app on Windows 10 (advanced users)

Right-click start button and select Windows PowerShell

Right-click and select Run as administrator

Copy & Paste: Get-AppxPackage Microsoft.windowscommunicationsapps | Remove-AppxPackage


3. How to reinstall the Mail app on Windows 10

Open Windows Store and search for Mail and Calendar and click install.


4. How to install missing Mail app packages on Windows 10 (advanced users)

Type CMD in search box and right-click Command Prompt and click Run as administrator

Copy and Paste: dism /online /Add-Capability /CapabilityName:OneCoreUAP.OneSync~~~~0.0.1.0

Reboot your computer and mail app should be working fine now.


How to Fix Windows 10 Mail App Error 0x8007139f

To begin open the Settings menu go to Privacy, then select Email from the list of options in the left-hand pane. Next, enable Allow Apps to Access Your Email and make sure the Mail and Calendar option below is also enabled. If these options are already enabled when you enter the menu, disable them, Restart your computer, then re-enable them. After your computer restarts, the Windows Mail app will allow you to use the app without error 0x8007139f.


Forwarding Gmail Messages to Another Email Address

How to forward Gmail messages to another email address

If you prefer to read email in other apps or web interfaces, forward the Gmail messages you receive to any email address you choose. Using filters, you can forward only messages that meet certain criteria to external addresses. Still, the broad forward-everything approach is useful if you’d rather not take a piecemeal approach.

The instructions in this article apply to the web version of Gmail.

How to Forward Gmail Messages to Another Email Client

To use email clients such as Microsoft Outlook and Apple Mail, you can set up a Gmail account and retrieve messages directly, without having to forward those messages.

Select the Gear icon in the upper-right corner of the Gmail screen.

Choose See all settings from the drop-down menu that appears.

Go to the Forwarding and POP/IMAP tab.

In the Forwarding section, select Add a forwarding address.

Enter the email address you want to forward future Gmail messages to, then select Next.

Select Proceed in the pop-up window, then select OK.

Gmail will send a confirmation email to the address you want to forward to. Open it and click on the link to confirm the request.

Alternatively, copy the confirmation code and paste it into the Confirmation code field in the Forwarding and POP/IMAP tab in Gmail, then select Verify.

Select Forward a copy of incoming mail to.

Select the field next to When messages are accessed with POP to tell Gmail what to do with forwarded messages. Select one of the following options from the drop-down menu:

Keep Gmail’s copy in the Inbox instructs Gmail to leave the original message in your Gmail inbox as new and unread.
Mark Gmail’s copy as read leaves messages in the Gmail inbox but marks messages as read.
Archive Gmail’s copy is probably the most useful setting. It instructs Gmail to mark forwarded messages as read, remove messages from the inbox, and keep messages in the archive for later search and retrieval.
Delete Gmail’s copy allows the messages to move to the Trash folder after being forwarded. Trashed messages are deleted automatically after 30 days. This is not recommended, as keeping your messages in Gmail is an easy way to back it up.

Whichever option you choose, you’ll receive a copy of the email at the address you selected in the previous steps.

Select Save Changes.


From now on, email messages that arrive at your Gmail account (minus any spam) are copied to the other account.


How to Disable Gmail Forwarding


To turn off automatic forwarding, reverse the steps you took above.


Select the Gear icon in the upper-right corner and choose See All Settings from the drop-down menu that appears.

Go to the Forwarding and POP/IMAP tab, then select Disable forwarding.

Select Save Changes at the bottom of the screen.
